Man pleads not guilty to impersonating policeman

An East Toledo man accused along with two other men of videotaping themselves impersonating plainclothes police officers and posting the videos on YouTube.com was arrested yesterday, police said.

Scott Web, 23, of 634 Plymouth St. pleaded not guilty to three counts of impersonating a police officer during an arraignment Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court. He is free on bond, authorities said.

Austin Erel, 20, of 802 Mason St., who faces the same charges, is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 24.

Anthony Lanting, 22, of 1211 Navarre Ave. pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three counts of impersonating a police officer. He also is free on bond.

The men were charged after police served a search warrant at 718 Plymouth Wednesday and seized computers and other evidence implicating them in making a video they titled East Side Cops, police said.
