Residents in five central-city houses were forced to evacuate Sunday afternoon after a gas leak was detected at 910 Moran Ave. near Avondale Avenue.
The leak in a 1-inch plastic pipe was reported at 2:54 p.m. and residents were allowed to return to their homes after the pipe was repaired about 1 hours later, Chris Kozak, a Columbia Gas spokesman, said.
The gas leaked from a pipe inside a hole where City of Toledo workers had been working, but the cause of the leak was not determined, Mr. Kozak said Sunday.
The house at 910 Moran Ave. was without service as of 6 p.m., he said.
