WILLARD, Ohio A man has been charged with the Christmas shooting of two relatives in their home southeast of here, the county sheriff s office said.

Nicanor Garcia, 35, was arraigned yesterday in Norwalk Municipal Court on two counts of attempted murder. He was held in the Huron County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Mr. Garcia is accused of shooting his 16-year-old daughter once and his 43-year-old wife twice during a domestic incident in their home on Bevier Road in Huron County, sheriff s Capt. Robert McLaughin said.

Mr. Garcia was arrested nearby shortly after authorities responded to the 7 p.m. call.

Captain McLaughlin declined to release the victims names. They initially were taken to Mercy Hospital of Willard, then were flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, where the girl was in critical condition and the woman was in fair condition yesterday, the captain said.

The Ohio Bureau of Investigation and Identification is assisting with the investigation.
