FINDLAY James Kanable, an assistant superintendent for Oregon City Schools, was hired yesterday as superintendent of Liberty-Benton Local Schools in Hancock County.
Mr. Kanable will succeed Dennis Recker, who plans to retire in July after 41 years in education, the last 18 as superintendent at Liberty-Benton.
At a special meeting, the school board hired Mr. Kanable at a salary of $115,000 a year. He has been assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at Oregon City Schools since 2004 and previously was principal at Perrysburg High School.
