Fremont lets contract to start reservoir work

FREMONT Trucco Construction of Delaware, Ohio, has been awarded the contract for the first phase of the city s new 730-million-gallon reservoir.

Trucco s low bid of $5.2 million was well under the estimated cost of $7.8 million. The firm is expected to begin work next month.

Plans call for the new reservoir to be operational by May of 2011. It will replace the Ballville Dam on the Sandusky River as the city s water supply source. The dam will be torn down.
