Maple Grove Dairy LLC, of New Bavaria, Ohio, sought protection from creditors this week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Toledo.
The Henry County firm filed under Chapter 12, which was set up to allow family farmers to reorganize debts. Maple Grove listed $5.1 million in assets and $7.2 million in debts. The farm is operated by Rinke Oenema.
The largest creditor is AGChoice Farm Credit, Chambersburg, Pa., which is owed $2.2 million. The case has been assigned to Judge Richard Speer.
