2 high school students killed in accident near Lima

HARROD, Ohio Two Allen East High School students were killed in an accident late Friday when their car hit a tree, the second double fatality crash this year involving students from the Allen County school.

Kyle P. Long, 18, of Harrod, Ohio, and his passenger, Seth V. McClintock, 17, of Lima, Ohio, were killed in the 11:50 p.m. Friday crash on Lawrence Road near the Alger Road intersection. Seat belts were not used and alcohol is considered a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol s Lima post.

Mr. Long was southbound on Lawrence Road in a 1998 Ford Mustang when the car went off the right side of the road, he over steered, and it crossed the center line. The vehicle then went airborne and struck a tree, and both occupants were declared dead at the scene by Dr. Gary Beasley, Allen County coroner.

Harrod is about 75 miles south of Toledo.
