Teen shot in the back during fracas in North Toledo

A 13-year-old boy was shot in the back during an altercation Sunday evening in North Toledo, and a 17-year-old boy has been charged as the gunman.

Deonte Brown of North Toledo was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the upper back, shoulder area, police said. A hospital spokesman last night said she had no information on a patient by his name.

Young Brown was among a group of people, mostly juveniles, involved in a fight in the 2100 block of North Michigan Street north of Galena Street when the shooting occurred about

6:20 p.m.

Anthony Williams, Jr., 17, of North Toledo was charged with felonious assault in the other youth's shooting and with two counts of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation.

Williams is being held in the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center.
