A Millbury woman was killed and four people were injured, one seriously, in a three-vehicle crash Sunday night on State Rt. 51 just west of Millbury Road in Lake Township, authorities said.
Christine Shaffer, 39, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Ms. Shaffer was driving south from a private driveway onto Route 51 about 8:20 p.m. when she drove into the path of a westbound 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Raymond St. Marie, 17, of Genoa. The two vehicles collided, sending the Shaffer car into a spin, which caused it to strike an eastbound Dodge Durango driven by Chester Dixon, 51, of Toledo, troopers at the patrol's Bowling Green post said.
Ms. Shaffer s passenger, Scott Kinsel, 41, also of Millbury, was listed in good condition Monday morning at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where Raymond St. Marie was listed in serious condition and his passenger, Stefen Weaver, 17, also of Genoa, in fair condition.
Mr. Dixon was taken to St. Charles Mercy Hospital, where his condition was not available Monday morning. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to the patrol.
Ms. Shaffer and Mr. Kinsel were not wearing safety belts; the rest were, troopers said.
