A Toledo firefighter and another man were injured when an emergency medical vehicle and a van crashed yesterday in South Toledo, authorities said.
The victims were transported to area hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries, Toledo police said.
The crash occurred about
7:30 a.m. at Western Avenue and South Hawley Street.
The firefighter was traveling in an emergency medical vehicle, which was southbound on Hawley with its light and siren activated when it was struck by an eastbound van driven by Luther Samson of 922 Fries Ave.
The emergency vehicle then struck a utility pole and overturned, police said
Mr. Samson was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, officers said.
