OAK HARBOR, Ohio - Crews last night continued to work to repair a broken main on State Rt. 163, and water customers were warned to boil water used for drinking or food preparation.
The boil-water alert will remain in effect until further notice, Oak Harbor Administrator Robert Pauley said. Water pressure will remain extremely low until the 16-inch line is repaired, he added.
The water line, which dates to 1939, was damaged yesterday morning while crews performed planned maintenance. The Ohio Department of Transportation has reopened Route 163 between Routes 19 and 2.
Mr. Pauley said anyone needing more information may call 419-898-5017 or 419-898-2055.
