Monroe woman charged in heroin death of man

MONROE A 23-year-old woman has been charged in Monroe County District Court in the drug-related death last year of a Monroe man.

Teisha Wandt, was being held in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. A pretrial hearing is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Ms. Wandt of Monroe was arraigned last week on one count of delivery of a controlled substance causing death. The felony charge stems from the heroin-related death of Jacob Zubkoff, 22, who was found unconscious Nov. 16 in his home.

The Wayne County medical examiner ruled that Mr. Zubkoff died from heroin abuse.

Detective Sgt. Ed Chakmakian, of the Monroe Police Department said Ms. Wandt was arrested after the autopsy findings were released, witness statements, and evidence found at the victim s home.

Ms. Wandt was arrested June 17 on an unrelated misdemeanor stolen property charge.
