A Toledo man described as a fugitive was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of felonious assault after the May 13 shooting of two men in the parking lot of a North Toledo bar, authorities said.
Virgil Williams, 27, of 120 East Central Ave., the alleged gunman, was charged with two counts of felonious assault with the weapon of ordinance specification and was being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment.
The victims, Johnny Daniel, 39, of North Byrne Road, and Kenny Jones, of Orlando Drive, whose age was unavailable, were treated at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, according to Toledo police.
Police responding to a report of a person shot arrived about 2:50 a.m. May 13 at the parking lot of Lion s Den Bar & Grill at 2814 Lagrange St. Shortly after, police found Mr. Jones inside the bar. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his right hip, according to their report.
Officers on the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force surprised Williams Thursday at an apartment in the 2300 block of Ashland Avenue in central Toledo and arrested him without incident, Sgt. Tim Noble said.
Shell casings were recovered from the bar scene, police said.
