HILLSDALE, Mich. - A Hillsdale Township woman was killed in a sport-utility vehicle rollover accident near this community, authorities said.
Shelly Ann Studnicka, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m. Monday in the county's Cambria Township.
Ms. Studnicka pulled into a driveway in the 4300 block of Bankers Road and was removing items from the SUV when it began to roll backwards. She tried to stop the vehicle, fell underneath it, and then was dragged down the driveway and across the road, sheriff deputies said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle may have had previous mechanical malfunctions, according to the sheriff's office.
Hillsdale is about 60 miles northwest of Toledo.
