Bond for Edgar Howard, who is accused of murdering 88-year-old Frances Fox in her North Toledo home, was set at $1.4 million yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

At his arraignment, Howard pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mrs. Fox and the severe beating of her husband, Kenneth, 74. Police were called to the Foxes Mulberry Street home May 5 after receiving a desperate call from Mr. Fox, who came to after lying unconscious for days.

A grand jury indicted Howard on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and attempted murder. Judge Gary Cook appointed David Klucas and Jane Roman as Howard s attorneys and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Aug. 19.
