Purse thief targets car with 6-year-old inside

Police were looking Monday for a man who stole a woman's purse from her vehicle while her daughter was in the back seat.

The woman, whom police did not identify, was dropping off her younger child at Kids 2 Treasure preschool, 2880 West Laskey Rd., about 8:30 a.m.

She told police she left her 6-year-old daughter in the vehicle and a man opened the door, shoved the child, and stole the purse.

The suspect used the woman's credit cards 30 minutes later to purchase more than $1,000 in gift cards and other merchandise from the Wal-Mart on Glendale Avenue, police said.
