DEFIANCE - A motorcyclist is in jail after allegedly leading state troopers and sheriff's deputies on a chase early Thursday, authorities said.
James C. Ramey, 19, of Archbold, Ohio, is being held in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio pending an appearance in Defiance Municipal Court today.
Troopers said the chase began about 1:30 a.m. when they attempted to stop Mr. Ramey for an improper lane change on U.S. 24 at eastbound State Rt. 15.
The motorcycle exited onto North Clinton Street, weaving through traffic, and proceeded west on Ralston Avenue, reaching speeds of 120 mph, troopers said.
Mr. Ramey continued his flight, reached northbound Route 15, then turned into a private residence across from the Defiance County Airport, where he was arrested, troopers from the Defiance post said. He is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, reckless operation, operating a motorcycle without an endorsement, and having false registration.
