A 20-year-old Toledo man was reported in critical condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after he was beaten in a Point Place neighborhood.
Police said Michael Rembowski, 20, was beaten while he was walking with two other people.
A witness said Mr. Rembowski was assaulted by several men.
Also injured was Phil Reynolds, 22, of Toledo, who told police he was hit when he tried to help. The extent of his injuries was not available.
Police were called to 116th Street just after 1 a.m. yesterday, arriving after emergency crews, who also responded to the report of an injured person. Police said hospital staff told them Mr. Rembowski had bleeding on the brain as a result of the assault.
Four men were arrested later and charged with aggravated riot.
