Sheriff's office probes Monroe County robbery

MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate an armed robbery and attempted murder over the weekend in which the suspect shot twice at the victim.

A 27-year-old man was stopped about 12:50 a.m. Saturday at Cole Road and Vivian Road in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township when he was approached by an unknown man, deputies said.

The man opened the passenger door to the victim's truck and demanded money at gunpoint, deputies said. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect fired two rounds that hit the windshield and passenger side of the truck.

The suspect fled with about $140 stolen from the victim.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery and attempted murder is asked to call the detective bureau at 734-240-7530.
