Body found in burning vehicle in central Toledo

It appears Toledo has its first homicide of 2010.

Toledo police are investigating a body found in a vehicle fire early Friday morning as a suspicious death.

Crews responded to a sport utility vehicle on fire in the 1100 block of Pelee Street south of Dorr Street about 4:15 a.m. and found the body inside.

The SUV was not involved in an accident, police said.

There was only one individual in the vehicle, police said.

No additional information was immediately available.

In 2009, there were 33 homicides investigated by Toledo police. There were 20 in 2008 and 13 in 2007.
