First grader Kenny Kime races with Keyauna Moss during a ‘Hoops 4 Haiti' fundraiser at Bennett Venture Academy in Toledo. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade donated at least $1 to skip class Friday and take their turn on the basketball court. Their contributions to the Haiti relief effort also entitled them to forgo wearing the traditional school uniform for the day.
Bennett sixth graders Brianna Billings, Bianca Denton, and Morella Jansheski, from left, put up a sign for the fundraiser.
The students raised $2,098 that will go to HUT Outreach, a humanitarian aid organization that focuses on the basic needs of the Haitian earthquake victims including clean water, food, homes, education, and medical care.
