Ex-city employee files discrimination lawsuit

A former city employee who had once before filed a civil lawsuit against the Toledo water department alleging discrimination has again filed a complaint in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Doris Levesque, who was a clerk in the water department from August, 2003, through April, 2009, filed the complaint this week.

The lawsuit asks for in excess of $25,000 in compensatory and punitive damages as well as fees and costs. According to the lawsuit, Ms. Levesque had filed five charges of discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission covering a series of events that occurred between October, 2008, and her termination. The complaint said the commission issued a right to sue on two of the complaints.

Ms. Levesque had previously sued the water department on March 23, 2009, alleging discrimination. At the time still employed, Ms. Levesque claimed she was subject to “egregious acts” including her telephone being tapped. The lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed Dec. 31.
