Ex-officer admits theft from Kansas fire dept.

TIFFIN — The former treasurer of the Kansas Volunteer Fire Department has pleaded guilty in Seneca County Common Pleas Court to stealing about $43,000 from the department between 2004 and 2009.

Robin Bennington, 52, faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty to theft in office, a third-degree felony.

County Prosecutor Derek DeVine said he will seek restitution when Bennington is sentenced. No sentencing date has been set.

Kansas is an unincorporated village in Seneca County's Liberty Township.
