O-I to host Strickland, outline R&D spending
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland is to visit the world headquarters of Owens-Illinois Inc. in Perrysburg on Monday afternoon as part of a company announcement about its plans for additional investments in research and development locally.
Spokesman Stephanie Johnston declined to discuss company plans, but said they involve additional jobs in metro Toledo.
Mr. Strickland is to tour a 4,000-square-foot materials science laboratory recently completed in a research center on O-I's Perrysburg campus. He is to discuss technology and the Ohio economy. Albert Stroucken, O-I chief executive officer, also is to speak.
