Oregon board told Brown son quit police
Oregon's Civil Service Commission was notified Tuesday of the March 24 resignation of Jeffrey Brown, the police officer son of former Mayor Marge Brown who reached a separation agreement with the city.
Mr. Brown, 39, had violated police policy by lending police gear for a Halloween party a few years ago. Last year, he was suspended without pay for 20 days after an investigation of misconduct, including illegally using a statewide law-enforcement database to seek data on an ex-girlfriend.
Under last month's separation agreement, Mr. Brown received 13 weeks of pay, or about $14,000, and compensation for unused vacation time. He had been on paid administrative leave since late January pending the investigation.
Mrs. Brown lost the mayoral race in November to Mayor Mike Seferian.
