Beaverdam, Ohio, man dies in crash near Lima

LIMA, Ohio — A Beaverdam, Ohio, man was killed last night when he lost control of his van on westbound U.S. 30 north of here and was hit by a sport utility vehicle, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Jarrod Leon, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 7:10 p.m. accident, troopers said.

Mr. Leon was westbound on U.S. 30 west of State Rt. 65 in Monroe Township when he went left of center and was struck on the driver's side by an eastbound SUV.

The driver of the SUV, John Mackey, 63, of Bluffton, Ohio, and his three passengers and were taken to St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, along with a passenger from Mr. Leon's van. Their conditions were not available last night.
