Sewer construction will require a detour on part of Lewis Avenue and extend a work area on Jefferson Avenue starting Wednesday morning, the city transportation division said Tuesday.
Beginning at 9 a.m., Lewis will be closed between Cribb Street and Annabelle Drive. Through traffic will be detoured via Laskey and Bennett roads and Eleanor Avenue. Reopening is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Also at 9 a.m., Jefferson will be closed to westbound traffic between 11th and 12th streets, and 11th will be restricted to a single lane at Jefferson. Those conditions are to be in effect until July 14.
Westbound Jefferson is closed between Erie and Michigan streets.
Motorists are urged to use Madison Avenue instead.
On Hill Avenue, meanwhile, pavement reconstruction will require closing westbound lanes at Parkside Boulevard this morning.
Westbound traffic will turn right onto northbound Parkside, and southbound traffic on Parkside will turn right onto westbound Hill.
Authorities advise motorists to avoid using either street in this area until June 9 unless these turns are convenient.
