Tiffin gets award of $280,285 for firefighters
TIFFIN — The Tiffin Fire Department has been awarded $280,285 from the federal government to bring two laid-off firefighters back to work.
The grant, which is to cover the firefighters' salaries and benefits for two years, was awarded from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program.
Fire Chief Bill Ennis said the financial boost may help the city keep its No. 2 fire station open.
It had been considered for closing for budget cuts.
