Sandusky man arrested in death of woman found in Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Ohio - A Sandusky man was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with the murder of a Sandusky woman whose body was found near a pond off Smith Road near State Rt. 4.

Michael G. Martin, 53, is being held in the Erie County jail on one count of murder stemming from the death of Amanda Gibson, 25, who was found just before 8 p.m. Tuesday by a fisherman near the Norfolk-Southern Railroad switching yard outside Bellevue.

Erie County Sheriff's deputies said her body showed signs of trauma, and an autopsy was ordered.

Mr. Martin was being held without bond pending an appearance in Sandusky Municipal Court Friday.
