Factory in B.G. to close; 100 workers to lose jobs
BOWLING GREEN — Thomas & Betts Corp. told employees this week that the East Poe Road plant will close by the end of July and the work will be moved to Tennessee.
The closing will idle 100 local workers. None will be offered jobs at the Portland, Tenn., factory. The company wanted to consolidate operations because of decreased business and the Tennessee factory was larger and able to accommodate more work, a spokesman said.
The company makes electrical fittings, used by electricians in construction work or industrial settings.
