Former acting fire chief back on job in Fostoria

FOSTORIA — Fostoria's former acting fire chief, Brian M. Anderson, has returned to work after being off six weeks following his arrest on a domestic violence charge.

He was demoted to captain, returned to the three-shift rotation, and began working Wednesday as a paramedic, Mayor John Davoli said.

Mr. Anderson, a 16-year city employee, was arrested May 15 after his wife called Wood County sheriff's deputies and accused her husband of hitting her on the face with his fist, grabbing her around the throat, and stomping on her foot after he awoke and found her reading text messages on a cell phone that had been in his lap. He also reportedly set a pile of her clothing on fire in the driveway before leaving the house.

Mr. Anderson initially was demoted to assistant chief and placed on paid administrative leave. The domestic violence charge is pending in Fostoria Municipal Court.
