2 youths arrested in apparent arson attempt

Two boys were arrested about 7 p.m. Thursday during an apparent arson attempt in South Toledo, authorities said.

Scott Burrell, 12, of Prouty Avenue, and Taveon Hodges, 13, of Orchard Street, were arrested coming out of the back door at 1809 Broadway St., Toledo police Sgt. William Wauford said.

The boys were charged with arson and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center, Sergeant Wauford said.

The city has doubled the Crimestopper reward offered for tips that lead to conviction in relation to about two dozen arsons committed since late November. At least 11 of those were in East Toledo.
