$3,000 raised to help victims of tornadoes

BLADE STAFF

The Rossford Fire Department raised $3,000 yesterday during a benefit for the Lake Township Firefighters Association and victims of the June 5 and 6 tornadoes, department officials said.

The pancake breakfast, which also featured a 50-50 raffle and free children's bicycle helmets provided by Mercy, attracted people from Rossford and beyond, according to the fire department.

Of the money raised, $500 will be given to the Lake Township Firefighters Association in thanks for providing food and drinks to all firefighters working during the disaster. The remaining $2,500 will be donated to tornado victims through WSOS Community Action Commission, the fire department said.
