A suspect was arrested after two people were shot during a botched robbery overnight outside a North Toledo carryout, police said.

Anthony Wheatley, whose age and address were not immediately available, was arrested as a suspect of the crime. He is expected to appear in Toledo Municipal Court early Friday.

Mr. Wheatley approached a man and woman at gunpoint in their vehicle outside a carryout in the 800 block of Galena about 11:50 p.m. last night, Toledo Police Sgt. Phil Toney said. The victims attempted to flee in their vehicle before both were shot.

Brandi Rogers, whose age and address were not immediately available, was shot in the leg and treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Jeff Malkowski, whose age and address were not immediately available, was shot in the back at treated at the same hospital.

Police said neither of the victims suffered life threatening injuries. A hospital spokesman said she had no information on either of the victims' conditions.
