Lake High supply drive finding wide support
From desks to pencils to overhead projectors, Lake High School has received nearly all the materials it needs to start the school year, thanks to a well-supported supply drive, a school official said Thursday.
“I think we're just about ready to have every classroom outfitted,” said drive coordinator Jodi Takats, also director of curriculum and special education for Lake Local Schools. “The response has been awesome. We've gotten so much support from the community.”
Thursday's big donation — 17 cafeteria tables — came courtesy of Monroe Public Schools. Mrs. Takats said the tables will replace those lost in the June 5 tornado, and be used in a cafeteria building under construction on the main Lake Township campus.
Lake Middle School is to receive at least 200 books Friday from Kent State University's School of Library and Information Science. Cheryl Tennant, a 1975 Lake graduate and employee at the Kent State library school, is scheduled to deliver the books at 1 p.m.
The supply drive is sponsored by The Blade, its media partner WTOL-TV, Channel 11, and BCSN.
