Information requested to identify east-side thief

Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about an incident in which a man robbed a woman of her purse on a sidewalk at Idaho and Forsythe streets in East Toledo.

About 2:30 a.m. Oct. 8, the man walked up to the woman and asked her for a cigarette.

When the woman told him she didn't have any, he yanked the purse from her shoulder and ran down an alley with it, police said.

The thief was described as white, about 30 years old, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a red hooded jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program at 419-255-1111.

Callers may remain anonymous and could qualify for a cash reward.
