Man jumps from window to escape south Toledo fire

Jamarr Hughley was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, with cuts to his feet, police said, after he dropped from his second-floor bedroom window.

Rescue personnel said Mr. Hughley had been sleeping when he smelled smoke about 11:15 a.m. and crawled out the window after he saw flames from the fire that started in the home's attached garage.

Wind helped spread the fire to the home next door at 745 Acton, which had a charred wall by the time the flames were extinguished.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
