Police seek clues in 1994 murder

Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about the unsolved murder of an amateur boxer in 1994.

Carl Jones, 25, was shot and killed about 4:40 a.m. Dec. 18, 1994, at the Amoco gas station, 1853 West Central Ave. at Upton Avenue. He was ranked fourth in the nation as a Golden Gloves association competitor. He moved to Florida to train for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He had returned to Toledo to spend Christmas with his family when the killing occurred, his mother said two years after his slaying.

Police said several tips have been generated through the years. The best information available is that two males were at the scene and were involved in the murder.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
