Henry County collision sends man to hospital

BLADE STAFF

NEW BAVARIA, Ohio — A New Bavaria resident was injured in a collision with a pickup truck on Henry County Road 19 and County Road Y in Pleasant Township shortly before noon Thursday, Henry County sheriff’s deputies said.

Richard Taylor, 51, was driving his 98 Ford Ranger on County Road Y when a 2003 GMC Sierra driven by Randall Akers, 54, of Malinta, Ohio, drove into the intersection and struck Mr. Taylor’s vehicle, sending it into a cornfield.

Mr. Taylor was taken to Defiance Regional Medical Center, where a spokesman said the hospital did not have a patient by that name.

Mr. Akers was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. The accident was reported at 11:52 a.m.
