Man injured in motorcycle crash near Tiffin
TIFFIN — A Tiffin man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday night on State Rt. 53 north of this Seneca County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Gary Coleman, 60, the driver, was flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, with life-threatening injuries, according to troopers at the patrol’s Fremont post. Mr. Coleman is in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesman.
Mr. Coleman was driving north on Route 53 north of County Road 38 in Seneca County’s Pleasant Township about 8:15 p.m. when for unknown reasons he drove off the right side of the roadway, causing the motorcycle to strike a ditch. The vehicle then overturned, throwing the man on the ground, troopers said.
Mr. Coleman was wearing a helmet, according to the patrol.
The crash remained under investigation.
Tiffin, the county seat, is about 50 miles southeast of Toledo
