5th grader suspended over bullets in school
Toledo Public School officials say a fifth grader at Harvard Elementary was suspended after he brought ammunition to school Wednesday to show off to friends.
Romules Durant, TPS assistant superintendent, said the bullets were not brought to the school as a threat but belonged to the boy's father, who took responsibility for not properly storing the ammunition.
Police were at the school this week to investigate this and several other incidents that generated concern in the neighborhood.
A report of a student with a marijuana cigarette was found to be untrue; the student had rolled paper to look like the real thing as a joke, Mr. Durant said.
What was reported to be illegal pills brought to school by a student turned out to be aspirin, he said.
