BOWLING GREEN — A plan to convert the former Lark Elementary School in Northwood into a social-services hub for northern Wood County has been dropped.
The county board of health voted unanimously Thursday to turn down a $10 purchase proposal for the school. Health Commissioner Pamela Butler had hoped for the department to offer services at the school and rent the rest of the space to other agencies in the Bowling Green area that want to offer services closer to their northern clients.
“It’s still a great concept,” Ms. Butler said Friday, explaining that board members were concerned about the cost of renovating and maintaining the school and the uncertain revenue stream. She said the department will continue to seek a location to fit its needs.
