6 local architecture projects honored

The Toledo chapter of the American Institute of Architects has honored six projects with its annual Toledo Design awards. The six were chosen from 14 entries, representing seven local architectural firms that entered the 2012 competition. Judges selected three projects for Honor Awards, another two were selected for Citation Awards, and one project received a 25 Year Award, which recognizes architectural design of enduring significance completed between 25 and 35 years ago.

Recipients of Honor Awards were the Wolfe Center for the Arts in Bowling Green, designed by The Collaborative Inc. and Snohetta Architecture Design Planning PC; Health Care REIT corporate headquarters in Toledo, designed by Duket Architect Planners and Centerbrook Architects and Planners, and McKinley Elementary School in Toledo, designed by Munger Munger + Associates Architects Inc.

Citation Awards went to Woodward High School, designed by The Collaborative, and the Roy, Shecter & Vocht Law Offices, in Birmingham, Mich., designed by MacPherson Architects Inc./2MA. The 25 Year Award went to The Collaborative for its design of the Eleanor N. Dana Center at the University of Toledo Health Science Campus, formerly the Medical College of Ohio.
