Paulding man fixing truck is hit, killed

A Paulding, Ohio, man was killed Sunday afternoon when he was struck in Paulding Township while repairing his truck's wheel.

Paul D. Keeler, 63, had stopped off the right side of northbound U.S. 127, just north of State Rt. 613, about 2 p.m. after his pickup truck lost its front left wheel, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Tow truck driver Jon Gideon, 51, was helping Mr. Keeler replace the wheel when Walter Harris, 88, tried to pass the disabled truck, according to the state patrol.

Mr. Harris struck Mr. Keeler with the right front bumper of his car, the patrol said.

Both Mr. Keeler and Mr. Gideon were thrown onto the back of the flatbed wrecker, parked in front of the pickup truck.

Mr. Keeler was taken to Paulding County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Mr. Gideon was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Mr. Harris was taken to the hospital for observation and was released.
