New stretch of U.S. 24 to be site of foot race

The Ohio Department of Transportation has agreed to allow a road race and walk on the new U.S. 24 expressway near Waterville before it opens, but a date has not been set.

Theresa Pollick, a spokesman at the department's Bowling Green district office, said the Toledo Roadrunners Club, which sponsored a similar event before the Veterans' Glass City Skyway's 2007 opening, said the U.S. 24 race would occur late next month or early in September. The roadway between the north side of Waterville and Napoleon's eastern outskirts is to open in September.
