Board certifies voting of Aug. 7

BLADE STAFF

The Lucas County Board of Elections voted 4-0 Wednesday to certify the Aug. 7 special election, confirming the results in Lucas County precincts of a levy renewal for the Swanton schools.

The board certified that in Lucas County, 235 votes were cast against the levy and 119 were in favor. But the results from Fulton County, where the elections board certified Aug. 7 voting on Monday, more than offset the negative vote in Lucas County: 729 in favor, 475 against.

The five-year, 4.45-mill levy, which had failed in March, brings in $825,000 a year and costs the owner of a $100,000 home about $136 in annual tax.
