Putnam County to get $75,000 soil, water grant

BLADE STAFF

The Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District is to receive a $75,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The agency was one of four Ohio entities awarded a total of $290,000 in Conservation Innovation Grants for "innovative, on-the-ground conservation technologies and approaches."

Also receiving grants were the Ohio Environment Council, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Brandts Farm in Carroll, Ohio.

The Putnam County conservation district plans to use its grant to show the effectiveness and feasibility of managing crops and improving the environment through phosphorus management.
