John Dinon, executive director of the Toledo Area Humane Society, speaks in his office as "George" relaxes on a conference table in 2011.
John Dinon, executive director of the Toledo Area Humane Society, is leaving the organization effective Oct. 1, according to the group's Board of Directors.
Mr. Dinon, who has been with the group just shy of four years, is "pursuing new professional opportunities in the Toledo area," according to a news release. When reached Tuesday afternoon on his personal cell phone, Mr. Dinon said he was no longer at the humane society and could not comment beyond what was in the press release.
Veterinarian Deb Johnson, director of operations, will be overseeing the operations of the shelter, while the board conducts a search for an executive director.
