MONROE -- A woman waiting for a school bus to pick up her daughter today died after being struck by a vehicle in Monroe County.
Troopers said the 42-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was struck at about 6:50 a.m. on Nobil Avenue, between Kay Drive and West Albian Road in Monroe Township.
Investigators reported that a 17-year-old girl was driving southbound on Nobil, to school, with her sister also in the car, when the car went off the roadway and hit the woman.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene; the occupants of the vehicle did not report any injuries, Michigan State Police said.
At this time, troopers said speed may be a factor in the crash, but are asking any witnesses to call Michigan State Police at 734-242-3500.
