Northwest Ohio to get snow this week

Southern area to be hit hardest

BLADE STAFF

So, you thought winter might be over because it's the first week of March? Guess again.

The National Weather Service has posted Winter Storm Watches for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning for northwest Ohio because of an approaching low-pressure system that could bring as much as 6 to 9 inches of snow to the region, with the heaviest accumulations expected south of a line stretching from Bowling Green to Wooster, Ohio.

Snow is expected to spread from west to east on Tuesday afternoon and be heaviest Tuesday evening, then taper off from west to east Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service office in North Webster, Ind., forecast 4 to 8 inches for its coverage area, which includes Williams, Fulton, Henry, Defiance, Putnam, Paulding, Allen and Van Wert counties in northwest Ohio. The storm is expected to arrive in northern Indiana on Tuesday morning, and sleet is possible during the storm south of U.S. 30, the Indiana forecasters said.
